Witch Stones
Witch stones, stones with natural holes through them, have many magical qualities. They have been referred to by a variety of names over the years, Witch Stones, Adder Stones, Snake Eggs, Hex Stones, Fairy Stones, Holey Stones and Eye Stones, to name but a few!
Whatever you prefer to call them, it is said that to have power, the stone must be found by the person who will use it. To be given a witch stone, or to buy one, is not the same. True believers insist that people don’t find stones, the stones find people…
Legends tell us they can be used to ward off the dead, curses, and to cure sickness and nightmares. Some say they can also look through the hole to see invisible creatures of the land of the Fae and open up a window to other realms. They are used as protection in many ways.
Witch stones, most often found on beaches, are formed through the erosion caused by pounding waves or burrowing creatures. They have been sought out for hundreds of years as powerful magical tools. They are believed to ward off all negative influences, and in particular to carry the ability to heal.
One of the main reasons they are so sought after and valued is the common belief that magic can’t work on moving water. Since the holes in witch stones are made by the force of water, the stone itself is believed to retain water’s beneficial influence. In effect, a witch stone is an amazing protection amulet, and so much more…Every stone is original and unique.
If one finds you, then you possess a powerful natural phenomenon. Keep it safe and respect it. If you see other witch stones, leave them to find someone else.
